What is the heart of self-giving, genuine life?
High-powered electric lines crisscross our country. They do not produce electrical power, they merely receive it on one end and dispense it on the other. Likewise, we can be the conduits of encouragement. As we are encouraged, so we can encourage others. Covers Hebrews 10:19-25.
You’re feeling down and discouraged and a “friend” comes along who proceeds to outline the cause and cure of your troubles. If you just follow his advice, you’ll be fine. By the time he leaves, you’re not only still discouraged, but wrestling with anger as well. Covers Job 2:11.
God’s creation is complementary: Humans need oxygen and plants produce it; plants need carbon dioxide and humans exhale it. Likewise, because every person is important and needs encouragement, God has given every person the ability to be an encourager. Covers selected Scriptures.
Born with a sunny disposition and a cheery outlook, some people rarely get discouraged. But not even optimism is a sufficient answer for the day of death that approaches every person. Only one truth is sufficient to remain encouraged in the face of death. Covers Luke 24:13-35
The Bible says we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Does that include self-encouragement? Or does it take another person to encourage us “in the Lord?” There are at least three spiritual disciplines that, when practiced, result in encouragement. Covers 1 Samuel 30:6.
We know what a “son of a gun” is - a real character with an “explosive” personality! But what about a “son of encouragement?” We find one in the book of Acts named Barnabas - a man who was characterized by his comfort and benevolence toward all. Covers Acts 11:24.
As every husband and wife knows, a marriage is life’s most fulfilling and most challenging relationship. Courage can slip away through the years, leaving spouses discouraged. To stay encouraged, three things are needed: responsibility, intimacy, and transparency. Covers selected Scriptures.
On a bad day, a parent might be heard to say, “These children are incorrigible!” What is actually true is that all children are “encouragable” - that is, able to be encouraged. This challenge for parents and teachers is to learn encouragement skills that really work. Covers Proverbs 22:6.
It’s been said that, “If it’s not in writing, it doesn’t exist!” Speaking an encouraging word means someone has to remember what was said, and by whom. Encouragement in writing becomes a permanent record that can be a blessing many times over. Covers selected Scriptures.
In the human body, every limb, organ, and cell works to contribute what it can to the overall health of the whole. Paul likens the church to a body with individual Christians being responsible to do their part to encourage (strengthen) the whole. Covers Romans 12:3-21.
With the recent events surrounding the late Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA (TPUSA), it has come to our attention that many are confusing Turning Point for God (Turning Point) with TPUSA. Turning Point is a ministry founded by Dr. David Jeremiah dating back to the early 1980s and is not affiliated with TPUSA, which was established in 2012. We apologize for any confusion created by the similarity in organizational names.
